KF-96 silicone fluid

Shin-Etsu KF-96 Silicone Fluid is a pure dimethyl polysiloxane fluid supplied in a very wide viscosity range, from water-thin to honey-thick. High electrical insulation, minimal viscosity change with temperature and chemical inertness make KF-96 one of the most versatile silicone fluids in the electrical, electronics and chemical industries.

• Insulating and impregnating fluid for capacitors and small transformers
• Heat transfer fluid for constant-temperature baths and heating equipment
• Damping fluid for gauges and rotary dampers
• Defoamer in paints, printing inks and wastewater treatment
• Release agent for rubber, plastics and metal casting

1. Viscosity is largely independent of temperature, with stable performance from -50 °C to 200 °C
2. Good electrical insulation and low dielectric loss

Application Notes

Silicone fluid spreads very readily over surfaces; control the area of use, since fluid on parts will reduce the adhesion of paints, adhesives and inks. For insulating applications, vacuum-dry the fluid to remove moisture and dissolved gases before filling. Do not expose the fluid to humid air at high temperatures for extended periods.

Choose low-viscosity grades for defoaming and mold release, and high-viscosity grades for damping and slow-speed lubrication.
