Dymax PCB Conformal Coating is a solvent-free acrylated urethane conformal coating that cures in seconds under UV light. A secondary moisture-cure mechanism ensures that material in shadowed areas beneath components, where UV light cannot reach, still cures fully. This solution cuts production cycle time from hours of oven drying to just seconds and eliminates solvent emissions.
| Property | Value |
|---|---|
| Viscosity | 200–700 mPa·s |
| UV cure time | 1–3 seconds |
| Recommended coating thickness | 25–200 µm |
| Dielectric strength | 39 kV/mm |
| Cured hardness | approx. 60 Shore D |
Boards must be free of flux residue and completely dry before coating. The coating can be applied by selective spraying, brushing or dipping; mask connectors and pins that require electrical contact. Use a UV lamp with the appropriate wavelength and intensity, and measure the UV dose periodically to ensure a tack-free surface. Shadowed areas will cure via atmospheric moisture within 2–3 days.
Placing an inspection camera under UV light right after the coating station helps detect uncoated spots before boards move on, significantly reducing rework costs.
