PE surface protection film

3M PE Surface Protection Film is a polyethylene film coated with a controlled-tack adhesive, used to protect finished surfaces throughout fabrication, shipping and installation. The film holds firmly during cutting, bending and punching yet peels off cleanly at handover, reducing rejects caused by scratches.

Typical Applications

• Protecting hairline-finish stainless steel and aluminum sheets during laser cutting and press brake bending
• Covering pre-painted steel sheets and aluminum composite facade panels during shipping
• Protecting acrylic and polycarbonate sheets during CNC cutting and thermoforming
• Protecting glass and aluminum-glass doors on construction sites
• Protecting screens and electronic device housings on assembly lines

Application Notes

Apply the film to a clean, dry surface at 15 to 35 °C, using a roller to avoid air bubbles. For pre-painted steel and painted surfaces, apply the film only after the paint has fully dried. For laser cutting, choose a dedicated laser film to prevent adhesive from flowing into the cut edge. Remove the film within the recommended period so the adhesive does not gradually build up adhesion.

Test a small sample and leave it for 7 days under real conditions before selecting the tack level for a large order.
